Desparate PM - takes LRT, reduce fuel price, now want to erradicate poverty August 24, 2008 - Charles Hector blog Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the head of BN, the current Prime Minister for don't know how long more, is starting to pull stunts one after the other:- a) He took rides on the commuter and LRT rail services - to experience the problems of the rakyat. ... But alas, he and/or his Transport Minister and the Cabinet should have done this a long time ago... and it would become so clear what has happened to the Public Transport System. In KL/Klang Valley - the priority should have been to build more LRT, Commuter lines because there are so many places that are not covered. There is no LRT/Commuter services even to get to the Kompleks Kerajaan (the Government Complex) in Jalan Duta...now there is also the Court Complex there... Ride the busses too, Mr PM. Try getting a taxi from most places in the Klang Valley. ...is not your son's company, that SCOMI, that has a significant interest and control of public transport in KL and the Klang Valley... You are the cause of the transport problems in the country - so do not pretend now that you did not know. Was it just an ordinary trip (or was there special preferences given to you, PM), because clearly there are some press who did cause to publish some nice photos of you at the LRT station, and even in the LRT. What about the East Coast of Malaysia - the train services are still so far behind. There should also be a East Coast coastal line - and a train line that cuts east to west. b) He reduced the price of petrol... c) And now, he wants to erradicate poverty in Malaysia before he hands over power to his DPM in mid-2010. ... Well...well, what is the poverty rate in Malaysia? Are you still using that 'old figures' to calculate the number of Malaysians (and Malaysian families) that are poor or hardcore poor? Well, you cannot - because the cost of living has sky-rocketted....and one of the most significant reasons for this was your very own BAD decision to suddenly increase the price of petrol, diesel, etc... and this caused the price of almost everything to increase... People who were not poor (or 'hardcore poor') are today efectively poor or "hardcore poor" - but, of course this will not be seen in your BN government statistics where the poverty line is really so unreasonable... One way that you could resolve poverty on paper - is just lower the poverty line ---- and then there will be 'zero poverty" in Malaysia. There should be no poverty in Malaysia, which is a rich country full of resources, by now but the BN government in total power for the last 50 years has failed to erradicate poverty, and provide each and every Malaysian family with an house. In fact, you have caused greater inequity in Malaysia. The rich became richer and the poor became poorer. The gap between the rich and the poor is one of the worse in Asia (and in the world). To save Malaysia, what you should do is just peacefully hand-over the duties and responsibilities of government to the Pakatan Rakyat, and we shall see whether things will improve. Since new brooms will be more efficient - we, in Malaysia, should benefit --- and after that finally in Malaysia, the people will have 2 main choices, i.e. the BN or the Pakatan Rakyat. One thing that has been happening to the people of Malaysia - is a growth in awareness and wisdom - and no more will they be deceived by the government and/or the political parties... Unhappy with the conservative Islamic State agenda being forwarded by PAS, with PKR's endorsment by the electoral pact they formed with PAS, the Malaysians, irrespective of ethnicity, religion or culture just rejected them in 2004 - PAS lost Trengganu and almost lost Kelantan. PKR lost all seats save for the seat contested by Wan Azizah. In 2008, the people are pissed with Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and the BN - and hence the results of GE2008. 5 States go to the Pakatan Rakyat, and the BN loses their 2/3 majority in Parliament. So, never under-estimate the people - the rakyat - the 'makkal' . Now, it is they who decide who shall be given the power, duty and responsibility to govern the nation and/or the States... Badawi's taking of the LRT is good - in fact all you MPs and ADUNs should also choose a week and travel around using only the LRT and Busses - this would be very good - and I am sure that after that there will be definite positive improvement of the public transport problems that all Malaysians have been facing. Many are driving cars today just because of the poor public transport system - we, the people, could have had so much use for the money that we could have saved by not buying private cars - it would have improved our lives in so many other ways. ...source |

Permatang Pauh: PM desperately doing good
Permatang Pauh - A degree of lying to the rakyat?
A degree of lying to the rakyat? August 23, 2008 - Niamah!!! And so the Arif fler has made a statement that he withdrew from the PhD programme he signed up for with the Edison University of Technology after he 'found out' that it was 'not recognised'. He even said that he got his money back. Oh well done, Einstein! Now the questions in our minds are these:- 1. If it is so easily ascertained by anyone with an Internet connection that degrees from that Edison University of Technology are bogus how come the Y.B. is so easily 'conned' into buying into that programme? 2. If he is so easily conned by a 'university' with such a dubious reputation should the people of Permatang Pauh place any trust in him? 3. What was his reason for 'wanting' a PhD in the first place? Does it make him any smarter or trustworthy as a people's representative? 4. Can the Barisan Nasional really think that the Malaysian rakyat are sooooooooo stupid? Oh the poor people of Permatang Pauh. All they have to choose from is Anwar Ibrahim and a schmoe who speaks a bit of Mandarin, Cantonese and Hokkein. Oh by the way, I wonder if Arif knows this Cantonese word... NIAMAH!!! ...source |
Permatang Pauh: Reasons for not voting Arif
GOOD REASONS FOR NOT VOTING ARIF SHAH! August 23, 2008 - http://margeemar.blogspot.com/ ... Two things bother me about this guy Arif Shah here, one, if he knew the Phd. from Edision was bogus but yet continued to pursue it, he must be a person of the lowest level of integrity who would be willing to deceive the Rakyat (People) with his phony Phd.. If Arif Shah got into the Phd. program without checking the University's background (Remember, you have to pay a lot of money to get a Phd.), then, he must be the biggest oxymoron around. In other words, he is not fit for public office i.e. State Assemblyman or Member of Parliament. However, The Scribe has other reasons why Arif Shah should never be voted in as Permatang Pauh MP let alone be the Seberang Jaya Assemblyman for the following reasons: 1. He was the most notable Indian Muslim who claimed himself Malay and participated in the illegal protest at Komtar against YAB Lim Guan Eng and the newly installed Pakatan Rakyat State Government in support of Ketuanan Melayu (Malay Supremacy). A man who forgets his origin just because of his religion, calling himself another can never impress me and any right minded person. The Permatang Pauh Indians need to take note of this. 2. The BN had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to put up Arif Shah as the BN candidate because Ariff Shah is the ‘least-hated’ of the five warlords of Umno Permatang Pauh so they hope that with him as the candidate this would reduce the possibility of internal sabotage. Never before had Umno needed to have an Assemblyman to stand for elections as an MP as well. 3. Ariff Shah is the brother of Tan Sri Amin Shah Omar Shah who is in now in self-imposed exile in the UK. He shuttles between London and Dubai but would never dare come close to Malaysia because there are criminal breaches of trust (CBT) allegations he may have to answer to.Amin Shah’s company, PSC Industries Berhad, was awarded more than RM24 billion in naval contracts around 1998 at the time Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak was already the Defence Minister. The government paid him billions in upfront money but Amin Shah’s company never fulfilled its side of the bargain. Billions of Ringgit of Malaysian taxpayers’ money went down the drain in the biggest fraud in Malaysian history. Amin Shah’s brother, Azlan Shah Omar Shah, was the Managing Director of the company. This guy (Arif Shah) is obviously lying when he says that he did not know his university is a bogus one. If he can lie about this, can you believe him when he says that he has no interests in his corrupt brother's business? In other mature democracy's, Arif Shah would not even be considered as a candidate. 4. Arif Shah was the Indian Muslim Malay wannabe who made the call as Seberang Jaya state assemblyman to rename George Town “Bandar Datuk Abdullah Fahim”. 5. The BN controlled MSM keeps on spinning that Arif speaks Mandarin and Hokkien and can read and write in Chinese as well. I hope the Permatang Pauh Chinese will remember that this same Arif Shah marched to Komtar with the rest of the Umno racists chanting Ketuanan Melayu with the perceived fear that the Chinese have taken over the State. Do you want this racist as your MP? Don't fall for the pictures of Arif Shah reading Chinese newspaper and speaking in Chinese in the local BN controlled MSM. 6. Arif Shah joined the rest of his racist pals from Umno to pressure the Federal Government to scrap all Mega Projects in Penang as punishment to Penangites for voting Pakatan Rakyat. Do we need to add another Umno racist who punishes Penangites to Parliament. This Scribe hopes that whoever reads this will print and pass this blog posting around. This Scribe gives consent to fellow Bloggers to reproduce this Blog Posting in their own Blogs. If possible, share this by word of mouth with those who have no access to the Internet. Let's expose Arif Shah for what he really is! ...source http://margeemar.blogspot.com/ |
Permatang Pauh: Rule of law over oath-swearing
'Rule of law over oath-swearing' By IZATUN SHARI August 24, 2008 - The Star BANGI: Swearing on the Quran is not in accordance with the concept of the rule of law, said one of Malaysia's most distinguished lawyers, Raja Aziz Addruse. Raja Aziz, who is also former Bar Council chairman, said it was the courts that decided whether one had committed an offence or not. "It is not for you to say, 'I didn't commit because now I'm swearing it' ... . That is not according to our rule of law," he said at Malaysia Think Tank's seminar on rule of law here on Sunday. "How did we get to this stage? How can people bypass the law by swearing on the Quran?" he said in response to a question by a participant at the seminar on whether swearing on the Quran was regarded as undermining the court. "It does seem to be a strange procedure for proving innocence. It is nothing. It's not a procedure the court allows for," he added. Another speaker Dr Shad Saleem Faruqi, professor of law and legal advisor to Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), however said there was nothing wrong with taking such an oath, but it was abuse of religion and not encouraged. "It is religiously improper but I don't think it is contempt of court. A lot of times people were tried in the court of law. Even after they are found guilty. They’ll say 'I'm innocent.' "But for people to start saying, X is a victim and Y is a violator. That is contempt of court," he said. Dr Aziz Bahari, professor of law at Islamic International University (IIU), said the recent flurry of oath-taking was a worrying trend. "This is politics. It undermines religion and is not required by Islam." ...source |
Permatang Pauh: PKR’s Sivarasa warns of vote rigging
PKR’s Sivarasa warns of vote rigging 24 August 2008 - Malaysia Today PERMATANG PAUH, Aug 24 — The opposition expressed concerns today that the government may be resorting to fraud in a by-election this week to prevent Pakatan Rakyat leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from entering Parliament. Sivarasa Rasiah, a vice-president of Anwar's Parti Keadilan Rakyat, accused the Election Commission of violating the law by using a new electoral roll that hasn't been officially approved for Tuesday's polling. "They are using an illegal list. The Election Commission, which is custodian of the conduct of elections, is willfully violating the law," Sivarasa told reporters. Although the Election Commission is an independent body, critics often accuse it of acting on the government's wishes. Sivarasa said that under Malaysian law, any new list of voters must be publicly exhibited to allow for objections before its final approval. A total of 949 voters who were listed in the last official roll approved in June are missing in the new roll, Sivarasa said. The party conducted checks and found that more than 800 of them are still living in the area but would become ineligible to vote because their names are missing, he said. He did not say if the missing names are those of opposition supporters. Sivarasa said the missing voters have been replaced with 861 new names, of which nearly half are non-residents who would cast their votes by post. The Election Commission insisted the new list is valid. "The list has been approved by the Election Commission," said its secretary, Kamarulzaman Mohamad Noor. He declined to comment further, adding that he would give further details on tomorrow. A total of 58,459 voters are eligible to decide in a by-election Tuesday whether to elect Anwar to Parliament. The election was called after Anwar's wife, who held the Permatang Pauh seat, vacated it to allow her husband to contest it. Anwar's main challenger is a candidate from the ruling National Front coalition. But the charismatic opposition leader is widely expected to win the seat, which is in his hometown in northern Penang state, despite accusations that he sodomised a male aide. Anwar has denied the allegations, calling them part of a political conspiracy. — AP ...source |
